Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team used a dominating defensive performance and a timely goal to post a 1-0 victory over LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in Belton. The Cru improves to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops LeTourneau to 2-4-2 overall and 0-3-1 in ASC play on the season.
The two teams were scoreless through the first 54 minutes of the match as the Cru defense held LeTourneau in check. UMHB allowed just three shots in the first half and only gave up seven shots in the entire match. Bo Baker finally broke the scoreless tie when he scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season 54:03 into the match. The UMHB defense would make it stand up as Mark Miller posted his second consecutive shutout for the Cru in goal.
UMHB will now hit the road for two more ASC matches next week. The Cru will face Concordia Texas in a 3:00 PM kickoff next Thursday. The UMHB men will then close out the week with a 3:00 PM start at U.T.-Tyler next Saturday.
