Clinton, MS – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team fell behind early and could not recover in a pair of matches at the American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Crossover Challenge Friday in Clinton, Mississippi. The Cru fell in three sets to both Schreiner University and Howard Payne University. UMHB is now 7-13 overall and 1-5 in ASC play on the season.
The Cru opened the day with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-17 loss to Schreiner University.
Tina Miller had a team-high 14 kills and she hit .407 in the match. Miller also added two service aces and six block assists.
Erin Maenius led the Cru with 15 digs and
Anissa Garcia posted a team-best 16 assists.
UMHB then lost to Howard Payne University 25-19, 25-19, 25-22 to close out the opening day of the tournament. Miller again led the way with 16 kills. Maenius added 20 digs and Garcia had a team-best 18 assists to go with nine digs.
Sara Hayward added six block assists for UMHB in the match.
The Cru will close out the tournament with a 10:00 AM match against Sul Ross State tomorrow. UMHB will then return home to host U.T.-Dallas and U.T.-Tyler next weekend at the Mayborn Campus Center.
