Abilene, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team broke open a tight match with three second-half goals and the Cru rolled to a 4-0 victory over McMurry University Friday in Abilene. The 23
rd-ranked UMHB men improve to 10-2 overall and 7-2 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops McMurry to 1-12 overall and 1-7 in the ASC on the season.
Chris Torres gave the Cru a 1-0 lead when he scored off
Kyle Dickey's assist on a corner kick just 7:15 into the match. It would stay that way into the second half before UMHB took charge with a pair of quick goals.
Garrett Graham knocked home a deflection just 3:06 into the second half and
Bo Baker scored on a penalty kick 1:44 later to make it 3-0 Cru. Torres would close out the scoring by heading home an assist from
Daniel Gable in the 69
th minute to provide the final margin.
Mark Miller finished with five saves in goal for the Cru to post the shutout. UMHB out shot McMurry 27-13 and put 11 of those shots on goal in the victory.
The Cru will close out the road trip with a 3:00 PM start at Hardin-Simmons University tomorrow. UMHB will then return home to host Howard Payne University in a 3:00 PM start next Saturday at the Cru Sports Plex.
