Volleyball drops two matches at ASC Crossover Tournament

Austin, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team could not dig its way out of an early hole in both matches and the Cru lost a pair of matches on the final day of the American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Crossover Challenge Saturday afternoon in Austin. UMHB fell to Hardin-Simmons University and Concordia Texas to drop to 9-18 overall and 3-10 in American Southwest Conference play on the season.
            UMHB opened the day with a 25-23, 25-20, 25-16 loss to Hardin-Simmons. Tina Miller led the Cru with eight kills and Kaydie Cochran added seven kills, a team-high 22 digs and a pair of service aces. Anissa Garcia topped the Cru with 15 assists and Alexis Tharp added 11 assists and two service aces.

            UMHB then fell to Concordia Texas 25-22, 18-25, 25-22, 25-18 to close out the tournament. Miller again led the way with 13 kills and she added seven block assists. Cochran had 12 kills and 15 digs and Erin Maenius led the Cru with 27 digs. Garcia had 19 assists and 12 digs and Tharp added 14 assists.

            UMHB will now return home to host LeTourneau University for a 7:00 PM home match Thursday at the Mayborn Campus Center. The Cru will close out next week's action with a 6:30 PM match at U.T.-Tyler next Saturday.
