Volleyball drops 3-1 decision to LeTourneau

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team bounced back from an opening set loss, but the Cru could not overcome LeTourneau's big night at the net and UMHB fell to the Yellowjackets 3-1 Thursday night in Belton. The Cru drops to 9-19 overall and 3-11 in American Southwest Conference play with the loss. LeTourneau improves to 12-14 overall and 6-9 in the ASC with the victory.
            UMHB battled back early but could not come all the way back before falling 25-18, 19-25, 25-21, 25-19. The Yellowjackets blockers had a big night, finishing with 12.0 team blocks while holding UMHB to just 4.0 blocks as a team. The Cru also gave up 10 service errors and LeTourneau posted six service aces in the match.

            Tina Miller topped UMHB with 15 kills and Kaydie Cochran also reached double figures with 11. Erin Maenius had a team-high 16 digs and Cochran added 10 more. Anissa Garcia had 20 assists and 11 digs and Alexis Tharp also chipped in with 16 assists for UMHB.

            Veronique Spruille topped LeTourneau with 14 kills and Chelsea Burns added 10 more. Staci 
Shaw posted 35 assists and Brittany Hood recorded a team-high 14 digs. Keasa Johnson had seven total blocks and Shaw and Burns chipped in with four total blocks apiece.

            The Cru will now close out the week with a 6:30 PM match at U.T.-Tyler on Saturday. UMHB will then return home to close out the regular season with matches against Mississippi College and East Texas Baptist next weekend at the Mayborn Campus Center.
