Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team took control of the match early and then stretched it out in the second half as the Cru posted a 5-0 victory over Louisiana College Friday afternoon in Belton. The UMHB men improve to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Wildcats to 0-11 overall and 0-6 in the ASC on the season.
UMHB drew first blood when Kyle Dickey drilled home a shot just 7:27 into the match off assists from Garrett Graham and Chris Torres. Torres stretched it to 2-0 when he headed home a corner kick from Daniel Gable at the 20:01 mark of the first half. UMHB would add another first-half goal when Trevor Shoppach scored off Dickey's assist at the 22:09 mark. It would stay that way into the second half before the Cru added some breathing room. Gabriel Dunham scored his first collegiate goal off Michael Teague's assist and Matthew French added his first collegiate goal off an assist from Ben Allen with both of those goals coming in the final 12 minutes of the match to put it out of reach.

Adam Cecil had one save in goal and posted the shutout in his first action of the season for the Cru. Filip Linder finished with eight saves in goal for the Wildcats. UMHB out shot LC 44-3 and held a 14-4 edge in corner kicks as the Cru dominated the action for most of the match.

The Cru will close out the weekend with a 3:00 PM start against Mississippi College tomorrow at the Cru Sports Plex. UMHB will then hit the road for key ASC matches at McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University next weekend.
