Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team kept it close through the first two sets, but the Cru could not put U.T.-Dallas away as the 22
nd-ranked Comets held on for a three-set victory over UMHB Friday night in Belton. The loss drops UMHB to 8-14 overall and 2-6 in American Southwest Conference play. U.T.-Dallas improves to 15-2 overall and 9-1 in the ASC on the season with the victory.
The Cru stretched UTD in the first set and then battled through the next two before falling 26-24, 25-18, 25-16. UMHB hit .110 as a team while the Comets hit .242 in the match.
Jessica Nassau and Dana Hilzendager led UTD with 12 kills apiece. Niki Calverley posted a
team-high 38 assists and Kelsey Zerkel topped four players in double figures with 21 digs. Shelby Murphy also had two service aces for the Comets.
The Cru will close out the weekend with a 5:00 PM home match against U.T.-Tyler tomorrow at the Mayborn Campus Center. UMHB will then travel to Austin to play in the second Dig Pink ASC Crossover Challenge of the season next weekend.
