Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team broke open a close match with a pair of late goals as the Cru posted a 3-0 victory over Mississippi College Saturday afternoon in Belton. The UMHB men improve to 9-2 overall and 6-2 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The Choctaws fall to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the ASC with the loss.
           
UMHB would take a 1-0 lead shortly before halftime when Chris Torres scored off an assist from Daniel Gable with 1:15 left in the first half. It would stay that way late into the match before the Cru finally added some breathing room. Trevor Shoppach scored off a Garrett Graham assist 83:15 into the match to make it 2-0 UMHB. Shoppach would connect again, this time off a Gable assist with just 44 seconds left to play to provide the final margin.

            Mark Miller posted seven saves in goal for the Cru to record his sixth shutout of the season. Andrew Dailey had one save in goal for the Choctaws. Mississippi College outshot UMHB 15-9 and had an 8-5 edge in corner kicks. The Choctaws also played the final 6:44 of the match a man down after Ben Cross was ejected.

            UMHB will now hit the road for a pair of key ASC matches next weekend. The Cru will take on McMurry University in a 3:00 PM start on Friday before closing out the weekend with a 3:00 PM start at Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday.
