Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team stormed back from a second-set deficit and the Cru never looked back on the way to a 3-0 victory over U.T.-Tyler Saturday afternoon in Belton. UMHB improves to 9-14 overall and 3-6 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Patriots to 10-9 overall and 4-4 in the ASC on the season.
The Cru won the first set before falling behind 23-21 in set two. UMHB won the last four points of the set and then rolled through the third in a 25-18, 25-23, 25-16 victory. The Cru hit .269 as a team and added 8.0 total team blocks in a solid all-around effort. UT-Tyler hit just .090 as a team in the match.
Danika Waldrep led the Patriots with seven kills and Kelsey Winn and Holly Kieschnick both added six. Ashten Waldrep topped the team with 12 assists and Whitney Clements added 11. Sarah Smith and Danika Waldrep both had 16 digs for the Patriots.
The Cru will now hit the road for the second Dig Pink ASC Crossover Challenge of the season. UMHB will play four matches against ASC West Division teams during that tournament next weekend in Austin.
