Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor team will find itself in a familiar spot against a familiar opponent when the Cru travels to Dover, Delaware to take on Wesley College in an NCAA Division III National Quarterfinal game this Saturday. The Cru and Wolverines will be meeting in the postseason for the fifth time in the last six years and the two teams will face off in the quarterfinals for the third time. UMHB and Wesley have also combined to win the last six South Region championships. The Cru will enter the game with a 12-0 overall record and the Wolverines are 11-0 on the season. UMHB and Wesley have split the previous four meetings and the teams are 1-1 in games played in Dover. The winner will move on to make its fourth appearance in the National Semifinals and the game certainly has a “Clash of the Titans” feel to it for the coaches and players.
“I think it is going to be like two heavyweight boxers slugging it out,” Cru head coach
Pete Fredenburg said. “They are one of the premiere programs in the country and we have a great deal of respect for what they do and what they've accomplished. This is why you do what we do, to be in a game like this. This is the kind of game you want to coach in and the kind of game you want to play in. Everybody needs to be on task and we will need to bring our “A” game on Saturday.”
The game will kick off at 11:00 AM Central Time and will be broadcast locally on KTEM 1400 AM. There will also live video streaming, live audio streaming and live statistics available. You can find those links through the UMHB athletic department web site at
www.cruathletics.com. The UMHB Student Life Division and Campus Activities Board will also be hosting a watch part on campus this Saturday for those who cannot make the trip to Dover.
