Women's tennis tops UT-Dallas to advance to ASC Tournament Semifinals

Ennis, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team swept through the doubles matches and then grabbed two quick singles victories to post a 5-0 win over U.T.-Dallas in an American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Quarterfinal match Friday in Ennis. The UMHB women improve to 12-5 on the spring with the victory. The Cru will now advance to tomorrow's semifinals to take on tournament host U.T.-Tyler (14-3) in an 11:00 AM match. The winner of tomorrow's semifinal will advance to Sunday's Championship match with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships on the line. The loss ends U.T.-Dallas' season at 5-8.
            UMHB posted 8-6 victories at both #1 and #2 doubles and earned an 8-3 victory at #3 doubles to take a 3-0 lead. Megan Aarhus and Mallory Aarhus then cruised to easy victories at #1 and #2 singles respectively to put the match away.
            The Cru women are in the ASC Tournament for the third straight year. UMHB also advanced to the semifinals in each of the last two trips before falling to U.T.-Tyler.
