Volleyball drops 3-1 decision to Mississippi College

Clinton, MS – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team won the first set but could not hold on to that lead as the Cru dropped a 3-1 decision to Mississippi College Friday evening in Clinton, Mississippi. The loss drops UMHB to 7-10 overall and 1-2 in American Southwest Conference play. The Choctaws raise their record to 8-8 overall and 1-2 in the ASC with the win.
            UMHB took an early lead before falling 19-25, 25-10, 25-13, 25-21. The Cru hurt itself with six service errors and UMHB also surrendered nine service aces to the Choctaws. The Cru would hit .104 as a team while Mississippi College recorded a .281 hitting percentage.

            Tina Miller topped the Cru with 15 kills, but no other player had more than four. Erin Maenius had a team-best 14 digs and Anissa Garcia posted a team-high 14 assists. Katie Askew led the Choctaws with 14 kills and Megan Deen chipped in 11 more. Michelle Cabeceiras had 20 assists and Lindsey Scallan added 17. Askew also posted 13 digs to lead three Mississippi College players in double figures in that category.
            
            The Cru will close out its road trip with a 4:00 PM start at East Texas Baptist University Saturday in Marshall. UMHB will then return to Mississippi next weekend for the first ASC Cross-Over weekend of the season.
