Belton, TX – A free kick bender into the upper right 90 from Bo Baker gives the CRU their first overtime victory of the season. After a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation, the CRU and Tornados started a 10 minute overtime period in the fading light on Saturday afternoon at the CRU SportsPlex. After a foul was called against Concordia just outside the box, Bo Baker took the free kick and made a spectacular strike that buried in the upper right portion of the goal.
Concordia scored early in the game to jump out to a quick lead 15 minutes into the game. Drew Kasper  for Concordia took control of the ball after it was played forward and placed it in the lower left corner, just past a diving Mark Miller in goal for the CRU.   The CRU were able to answer sixteen minutes later off a free kick by Trevor Shoppach. Shoppach's equalizer strike came from over 30 yards out and found the upper right 90, as Jacob Stern in goal for Concordia, watched it sail past and bury in the back of the net.
The scoreless 2nd half proved to be an offensive struggle for both teams as the CRU had seven shots on goal, and the Tornados only managed four. Mark Miller for the CRU had three saves on the day and Jacob Stern had five. There were 27 total fouls in the game and five yellow cards issued.
The win takes the CRU to 5-2-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the ASC. The Tornados are now 3-4-0, and 1-3-0 in the ASC. The CRU will now hit the road to Arkansas to take on the University of the Ozarks on the 30th of September, in Clarksville. Game time for that match is set for 3:00pm. The CRU will then battle the Comets of UT Dallas on the 2nd of October in Richardson, TX; game time is set for a 3:00pm start.
