Volleyball wins two at Dallas Tournament

Irving, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team took control of both matches early and the Cru rolled to a pair of victories at the University of Dallas Invitational Saturday afternoon in Irving. UMHB posted three-set wins over both Sul Ross State and Arlington Baptist College to improve to 2-4 on the season.
            The Cru grabbed an early lead and then rolled to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-17 victory over Sul Ross State. Tina Miller posted 16 kills to lead the UMHB hitting attack. Kaydie Cochran added eight kills and 10 digs and Erin Maenius had a team-best 23 digs. Anissa Garcia had 18 assists and Alexis Tharp recorded 14 assists, eight digs and three service aces in the match.

            UMHB then rolled past Arlington Baptist 25-10, 25-19, 25-16 to close out the tournament. Miller again topped the Cru with 12 kills and she added four total blocks. Cochran had 11 kills and three service aces. Maenius led UMHB with 21 digs and Garcia and Tharp both reached double figures in assists again with 20 and 10 respectively.

            UMHB will now return home to host a match for the first time this season on Tuesday. The Cru will host Victoria College and Concordia Texas for a tri-match at the Mayborn Campus Center starting at 4:00 PM.
