Volleyball falls to Concordia Texas in three sets

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team kept it close in all three sets, but the Cru could not climb all the way back in any of them in a 3-0 loss to Concordia Texas Tuesday night in Belton. The 25-21, 25-20, 25-22 loss snaps UMHB's two-match winning streak and drops the Cru to 2-5 overall on the season. The Tornados even their record at 2-2 on the year with the victory.
            Tina Miller and Kimberly Smidovec led the Cru with six kills apiece and both players had three block assists. Kaydie Cochran added five kills and Morgan Baker had four. Erin Maenius recorded a team-high 21 digs for UMHB and Anissa Garcia had a team-best 11 assists. Alexis Tharp added eight digs and she chipped in seven assists for the Cru.

            Kalynn White topped Concordia with 11 kills and Amanda Affolter added nine more. Jessie Mundfrom had a team-high 21 digs and Kevyn Jackson also reached double figures with 11. Jackson also had five service aces and Bianca Martinez led the Tornados with 18 assists.
            UMHB will now travel to Sherman to play four matches in the Austin College Tournament this weekend. The Cru will open with matches against Texas College and Austin College on Friday afternoon. UMHB will return home for another non-conference match against Huston-Tillotson University next Tuesday night at 7:00 PM.
