Women's soccer edges McMurry 3-2 in double overtime

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team beat McMurry University Friday afternoon in double overtime to capture the fourth conference victory for the Cru. The win improves the UMHB women to 4-8-1 overall and 4-5 in American Southwest Conference play.
 
Maizey Cardy gave the Cru an early off an assist by Tori Seiler at the 10:30 mark of the first half. Kristen Grant scored for the War Hawks to make the score 1-1 at the 20:08 mark. Grants goal would end the first half of scoring.
 
Paige Harwell scored a goal assisted by Kristen Grant at the 54:15 mark to give McMurry a 2-1 lead over UMHB. Kristyn Rhorick sent the game into overtime with a goal assisted by Kacie Tuttle with 16:45 remaining to even the scoring for the Cru. Taylor Bullock scored the winning goal in overtime assisted by Lexy Smith at the 106:12 mark. The UMHB women had a total of 29 shots on the day compared the War Hawks nine. Taylor Bullock took 14 shots on the day while Maizey Cardy contributed six. Goal keeper Meredith West had one save and received the win for the Cru.
 
Kristen Grant, Paige Harwell, Addison Tate and Hillari Chambers all had two shots on the day for McMurry. The Cru will be back in action on Saturday at the Cru Sports Plex with a 1:00 pm kickoff time against Hardin Simmons and the final home match of the season.
