Clinton, MS – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team took the lead early and never looked back as the Cru rolled to a 25-22, 25-15, 25-22 victory over Mississippi College Friday afternoon in Clinton, Mississippi. UMHB improves to 16-5 overall and 11-3 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Choctaws to 8-16 overall and 5-9 in ASC play on the year.
UMHB overcame a slow hitting start in the opening set before rebounding for the win. The Cru would end up out-hitting MC .283 to .155 in the match.
Kimberly Smidovec topped a balanced UMHB attack with nine kills and
Kaydie Cochran and
Morgan Baker added seven kills apiece.
Anissa Garcia posted 33 assists and Garcia and Cochran led the way with seven digs each for the Cru.
The Cru will close out its weekend road swing with a 2:00 PM start at Centenary College on Saturday. UMHB will then travel to Richardson to take on U.T.-Dallas in a crucial ASC East Division match next Tuesday night.
