Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football returns to American Southwest Conference play with a key home showdown against East Texas Baptist University this Saturday at Tiger Field. The Cru will enter the game with a 6-0 overall record and a 4-0 mark in league play and UMHB is also coming off its most impressive performance of the season in a 52-12, non-conference victory over Southern Oregon University last Saturday. ETBU will bring a 3-4 overall record and a 2-3 mark in ASC play into Saturday's game. The Cru is 10-1 all-time against the Tigers, but had to go to overtime last season before pulling out a 34-28 win over ETBU. The Tigers lone victory in the series was a 28-21 overtime win over UMHB at Tiger Field in 2003. That loss cost the Cru an outright ASC title and forced UMHB to miss the playoffs for the only time in the last ten years. It has also stayed fresh in the minds of the Cru coaching staff.

“One of the most ghastly memories I have at Mary Hardin-Baylor is from 2003 when East Texas Baptist came in here and beat us,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “I hope our players have that same feeling in that we have a lot to play for, so we need to play with a great deal of effort and energy on Saturday.”

Since that loss to ETBU in 2003, the Cru has gone 69-3 in ASC play. UMHB has won 15 straight conference games entering Saturday's action. Kickoff time for Saturday's game has moved up one hour to 1:00 PM from the originally printed time of 2:00 PM. The UMHB athletic department will provide free live video streaming and live statistics of the game. You can access those links at: http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/umhb.portal
