Clinton, MS – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will make its longest road trip of the regular season when the 3
rd-ranked Cru travels to Clinton, Mississippi to take on Mississippi College this Saturday in an American Southwest Conference showdown. UMHB is 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the ASC on the season following a 36-10 win over a previously undefeated Louisiana College team last Saturday. The Cru is ranked third in the country by the American Football Coaches Association and D3ffotball.com has UMHB ranked #4 in the nation. Mississippi College is 2-2 overall and has a 1-1 mark in the ASC on the year. The Choctaws have also had an open week to help prepare for the Cru and that is always a concern for the UMHB coaches.
“I think this is the fourth straight year they've been idle the week before they play us,” Cru head coach
Pete Fredenburg said. “Each time, they've come out with some wrinkle we've never seen before, so we feel like we have to be ready for anything. We also know that we need to stay focused because we are going to get Mississippi College's best shot. We didn't do a very good job of handling that last time we were in Clinton.”
Mississippi College beat UMHB 17-14 in the last meeting between the two teams in Clinton in 2009. That loss snapped the Cru's 33-game ASC winning streak. UMHB has won 14 straight conference games since and leads the all-time series with MC 11-2. Both of those losses have come in Clinton.
