Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team has already punched its ticket to the postseason, but the Cru still faces one more hurdle before advancing to the NCAA Division III National Championships. UMHB will travel to Seguin this Saturday to face Texas Lutheran University in the 2011 regular season finale. The Cru will take a 9-0 overall record and a 7-0 mark in American Southwest Conference play into the 1:00 PM kickoff at Matador Stadium. UMHB has already clinched at least a share of the ASC title and claimed the league's automatic bid to the playoffs with a 77-13 victory over Sul Ross State last Saturday. TLU is 5-4 on the year and has a 4-3 mark in ASC play. The Bulldogs have already clinched their first non-losing season since posting a 6-4 mark in 2006. A UMHB victory on Saturday would clinch an outright ASC title for the Cru, a second straight undefeated season and the likely #1 seed from the South Region in the postseason. So the Cru coaches and players certainly understand the damage a loss could do.

“We have worked on getting our football team better each week and we feel like we have continued to improve throughout the season,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “We want our team to be peaking when we get to the playoffs and we have to stay focused on our goals and what we really want to accomplish with this program. We can't afford to look past anyone or take a week off if we plan to get where we would like to be.”

UMHB leads the all-time series with Texas Lutheran 12-1 and the Cru set school records for points and margin of victory in an 81-3 victory over the Bulldogs last season. TLU's only win in the series came in a 34-24 victory over UMHB in the 1999 regular season finale. The UMHB athletic department will offer free live video streaming of the game and Texas Lutheran will also provide live stats of the contest.
