Farmers Branch, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor used a walk-off home run for a dramatic win in the day's opener before falling to the defending national champions as the Cru went 1-1 on the final day of the American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament. UMHB posted a 7-5 win over LeTourneau University in nine innings to open the day before dropping an 8-0 decision to East Texas Baptist in the finale. The Cru is now 7-5 on the season.
UMHB used a barrage of home runs, including a dramatic, ninth-inning shot to propel a 7-5 extra inning win over LeTourneau to open the day. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Hannah White blasted back-to-back homers in the bottom of the third to tie the game at two.
Jordan Giesen scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth to give UMHB a 3-2 lead. LeTourneau scored three runs in the top of the fifth to go up 5-3. Giesen hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-4 and White tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. UMHB had the potential game-winning run thrown out at home plate in that inning. It would stay that way into the ninth before
Caitlin Bollier led off the inning with a single. After a lineout, White followed with her second homer of the game, a two-run, walk-off shot to win the game. White earned the win with two inning of one-hit relief to move to 3-3 on the season. She added three hits and four runs batted in. Giesen, Bohne and Bollier added two hits apiece for the Cru.
UMHB never recovered from ETBU's three-run first inning in an 8-0 loss to ETBU to close out the day. The Tigers added two runs in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh to provide the final margin.
Austin McCormick had the Cru's only hit of the game. White took the loss after giving up four hits and six runs in five innings of work.
UMHB will play a non-conference doubleheader at U.T.-Dallas on Monday. The Cru will then return home to open ASC West Division play with a four-game series against Howard Payne University next weekend at Dee Dillon Field.
