Georgetown, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fought back from a first-half deficit, but the Cru could not take advantage of several late chances and UMHB settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie with Southwestern University Thursday afternoon in Georgetown. Both teams are now 0-0-1 to start the season.

Southwestern grabbed a 1-0 lead when Rebecca Pietro scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway just 6:21 into the match. The Cru would come back to tie the match on Eliza Faillace's first collegiate goal 13 minutes later. It would stay that way late into the second half. UMHB would narrowly miss a chance to win it but a cross sailed just wide of an open goal with four seconds remaining. The Cru outshot the Pirates 7-1 through the two overtimes but could not put one in the net.

Erica Harris finished with three saves in goal for the Cru. Sarah Nonoka had four saves for Southwestern. UMHB outshot Southwestern 13-11 in the match.

UMHB will return to action with a 3:00 PM start against Greenville College Saturday in San Antonio. The Cru will then take on Austin College next Saturday in the final non-conference tune-up before opening conference play against LeTourneau University on September 16th
