Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team beat LeTourneau University 5-0 Friday afternoon to capture its American Southwest Conference opener.
Angel Kemmerer made a goal assisted by
Maizey Cardy at just the 9:47 mark to start the first half.
Ashley Teague scored the second goal for the Cru to make the score 2-0 at the 41:59 mark.
The second half scoring surged on with a goal by
Taylor Bullock. The third goal was assisted by
Alison Bullock. The offense just kept rolling for the Crusaders when
Angel Kemmerer scored her second goal of the day on the 73:48 mark.
Jordan Powers contributed the fifth goal to end the scoring for the day.
Taylor Bullock took eight shots while
Briana Alston and
Ashley Teague both took three. Goal keeper
Meredith West had three saves and earned the shutout for the Cru.
The team took a total of 23 shots against the Letourneau defense compared to their four. The win brings the UMHB women to 1-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in ASC play. The Cru will be back in action on Saturday at the Cru Sports Plex with a 2:00 pm kickoff time.
