Longview, TX— The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team took control of the match early and the Cru rolled to a three-set victory over LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in Longview. UMHB won 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 to improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in American Southwest Conference play. The Cru has won four straight matches and seven of its last eight. LeTourneau falls to 0-13 overall and 0-4 in the ASC with the loss.
UMHB out hit the Yellow Jackets .261 to .146 in the match and the Cru took advantage of 20 attack errors and 11 service errors by LeTourneau.
Kimberly Smidovec led all players with 10 kills for UMHB.
Sophia Alexiou and
Kaydie Cochran added seven kills apiece.
Anissa Garcia added 23 assists and
Morgan Baker had a team-best 11 digs.
Three different players had seven kills apiece for LeTourneau. Brooke Sheranko added 16 assists. Kayla Bonina had a team-high 14 digs for the Yellow Jackets,
The Cru will now return home to host Mississippi College in a 6:00 PM start at the Mayborn Campus Center on Thursday. UMHB will then play in the first ASC Dig Pink Cross Over Challenge Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Seguin.
