Women's Soccer falls to Greenville College 3-2 in 2 OT

San Antonio, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team dominated the match everywhere but on the scoreboard and the Cru dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 decision to Greenville College in double overtime Saturday afternoon in San Antonio. The loss drops the UMHB women to 0-1-1 on the season. Greenville evens its record at 1-1 with the victory.
 
The Cru jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Eliza Faillace scored off an assist from Maizey Cardy in the 18th minute. It would stay that way into the second half before Greenville tied it on Rachel Irwin's unassisted goal in the 73rd minute. Taylor Bullock would give the lead back to UMHB with an unassisted goal just 1:28 later. Haley Thatcher's unassisted goal with 9:19 left in regulation would tie it again at 2-2. The Cru would have two solid scoring chances in the final three minutes of regulation and two more in the first overtime, but could not net the game-winner. Thatcher would finally end it with an unassisted goal 2:36 into the second overtime.
 
Erica Harris had four saves in goal for UMHB, but Heidi Koehl posted 11 saves for Greenville. The Cru outshot Greenville 26-13 and put 13 of those shots on goal. UMHB also had four corner kicks to just one for Greenville.
 
The Cru will return to action with a 12:00 PM non-conference match at Austin College next Saturday. UMHB will then return home to open American Southwest Conference play against LeTourneau University on September 16th
