Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team shook off a sluggish first-half to explode for three second-half goals and the Cru rolled to a 3-0 victory over the University of the Ozarks Friday afternoon in Belton. The UMHB women improve to 2-6-1 overall on the season and 2-3 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Eagles to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in the ASC on the season.
The two teams were scoreless at halftime before UMHB broke through on
Briana Alston's unassisted 5:33 into the second half. Alston deflected home a loose ball for her second goal 10:29 later to make it 2-0 Cru.
Jordan Powers would covert a penalty kick with 1:12 left to provide some insurance for UMHB.
The Cru outshot the Eagles 20-3 in the match and held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
Meredith West had one save in goal for UMHB. Morgan O'Neill had 10 saves for Ozarks in the match.
The Cru will return to action with a 1:00 PM home match against U.T.-Dallas tomorrow at the Cru Sports Plex. UMHB will then hit the road next week for matches at Louisiana College and Mississippi College.
