Seguin, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team kept its hot streak alive with a three-set victory over Sul Ross State University to open the American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Crossover Challenge Friday in Seguin. UMHB posted a 25-19, 25-7, 25-20 win to make it six straight victories. The Cru has won nine of its last ten to improve to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in the ASC. The loss drops Sul Ross State to 1-11 overall and 0-6 in the ASC.
UMHB took advantage of 10 service aces and out hit Sul Ross .198 to .009 to take control of the match early.
Kimberly Smidovec led the Cru with 12 kills and
Kaydie Cochran added 11 more.
Anissa Garcia had 29 assists and added 12 digs.
Elise Butler also recorded 12 digs and
Morgan Baker chipped in with 11 digs. Butler also had four service aces.
The Cru will close out the tournament with two more matches tomorrow. UMHB will face Schreiner University at 10:00 AM before taking on tournament host Texas Lutheran at 5:30 PM.
