Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will face long-time rival Hardin-Simmons University with sole possession of first place in the American Southwest Conference on the line this Saturday at Tiger Field. The Cru and Cowboys will kick off at 1:00 PM with the winner moving to 4-0 in ASC play and controlling its own destiny in the hunt for the conference title and playoff berth that accompanies that crown. UMHB enters the game ranked second in the country in both national polls and the Cru is 6-0 overall and 3-0 in league play. Hardin-Simmons is 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the ASC and the Cowboys have won four straight since dropping its first two games to Top 25 programs in Willamette and Linfield. UMHB has won ten straight in the series with the Cowboys and 12 of the last 13 meetings between the two teams. But HSU's last win came in a Homecoming game at Tiger Field against a highly ranked Cru team in 2004. The memory of that loss, along with the emotion of a rivalry game, should make Saturday's contest a spirited one. The fact that first place is also on the line just raises the stakes even more for both teams.

“Our players know how big each game is from here on out,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “Hardin-Simmons is always well-coached and well-prepared and this game always has a lot of meaning. We have a lot of respect for their program and are expecting a challenge on the field Saturday.”

The game will be broadcast locally on KTEM Radio with Jimmy Christopher and George Haffner calling the action. The pre-game show will start at 12:30 PM. The UMHB athletic department will also provide free live video and live statistics for the game.
