Women's soccer falls to Concordia Texas 2-1

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team jumped to an early lead in the first half over Concordia Texas, but could not find enough defense to sustain the lead, falling to the Tornados 2-1 in a double overtime match. The Lady Cru falls to 5-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in ASC action, while the Tornados advance to 6-4-1 overall and 5-1-0 in conference play.
 
UMHB took an early lead when Darla Gregory scored off an assist from Bethany Hoegenaur at the 38:07 mark. The Lady Cru held the lead until the 53rd minute when Jordan James put her shot in the back of the net for Concordia Texas. UMHB outshot the Tornados 4-2 in the second half, but was unable to put a shot in the goal during regulations, leading the contest into overtime.
 
The game remained tied at the end of the first regulation half, but Jordan James converted a shot at the 101:38 mark to give the Tornados the win. Both teams recorded ten shots in the match, with UMHB taking four cornerkicks to the Tornados five. Ashley Teague led the Lady Cru with four shots, putting three of those on goal. Sarah Kathryn Robinson played the entire match in the goal, recording five saves for UMHB.
 
The Lady Cru will return to action next weekend with home matches against Texas-Dallas at 1 p.m. on Friday and Ozarks at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
