Women's Soccer falls to 5th-ranked Trinity 3-0

Abilene, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team kept it close for the first half, but could not overcome Trinity's second-half surge in a 3-0 loss to the Tigers in the season opener Friday afternoon in Abilene. The loss to the fifth-ranked Tigers opens the Barry Elkins era as UMHB's head women's soccer coach.
 
The two teams were scoreless through the first half before Trinity drew first blood early in the second stanza.  Kelsey Falcone connected off an assist from Kimberly Polasek at the 50:44 mark. The Tigers would add another goal, this one from Maggie Olvera 1:16 later and iced the game with Falcone's second goal of the match 7:34 later, but the Cru defense stiffened from there. UMHB goalkeeper Sarah Kathryn Robinson recorded 11 saves in the match.
 
Trinity out shot UMHB 33-3 in the match and the Tigers had eight corner kicks while holding the Cru without a corner. UMHB is 0-1 to start the year while Trinity improves to 1-0. The Cru will now return home to host Southwestern University in the 2012 home opener at 7:00 PM Saturday. It will be the first home night game in the history of the UMHB women's soccer program.
