Box Score Sherman, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team broke open a tight game with a second-half offensive explosion as the Cru rolled to a 5-0 win over Austin College Saturday evening in Sherman. UMHB evens its record at 1-1 on the year with the win. The Kangaroos are now 0-1 on the season.
The two teams were tied at 0-0 at halftime. But The Cru quickly took charge in the second half, scoring four goals in a seven-minute span.
Jordan Freeman opened the scoring off an assist from
Tyler Wicks in the 55
th minute.
Isaiah Minick added a goal off another assist from Wicks two minutes later to make it 2-0.
Chris Torres and
John Williams would also use Wicks assists to push the lead to 4-0 less than four minutes later and
Kabutey Ebeheakey scored off an assist from
Jorge Marquez to finish out the scoring for the Cru.
Brandon Stegmeyer went the distance in goal for UMHB, posting two saves to record the shutout.
The Cru will return to action with a road game at Texas A&M next Friday. That game will not count in UMHB's record because the Aggies compete as a club team and the NCAA does not recognize games against club programs.
