Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team has grown accustomed to facing the Wesley College Wolverines, with the two teams having played each other six times in the last seven seasons. But when the 4
th-ranked Cru travels to Dover, Delaware to take on the 3
rd-ranked Wolverines this Saturday, one thing will be very different. It will be the first regular season meeting between UMHB and Wesley with each of the previous six meetings coming in either the National Quarterfinals or the Second Round of the NCAA Division III National Championships.
“This is why you play and coach football,” Cru head coach
Pete Fredenburg said. “You want to be involved in games like this where the whole country is watching. We have tremendous respect for Wesley and I think it is going to be a whale of a football game. It has been a very strange feeling to watch video of them in early September, though. We normally are getting ready to play Wesley in December!”
UMHB will bring a 1-0 record into the game after topping Kean University 34-7 last Saturday in Belton. Wesley is 2-0 on the year and is coming off a 17-7 victory over 6
th-ranked Salisbury last weekend. The Wolverines hold a 4-2 all-time lead in the series and have won two of the three previous meetings in Dover.
Saturday's game will kick off at 11:00 AM Central Time on Saturday. You can follow the game with free live video streaming through the UMHB athletic department web site at
