Men's soccer ties Texas Lutheran 0-0

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team played a scoreless double-overtime match against Texas Lutheran Sunday afternoon, recording a 0-0 tie in opening American Southwest Conference action. Both teams move to 2-1-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in conference action.
 
UMHB outshot Texas Lutheran in regulation play 8-3, recording four shots in both the first and second halves. In overtime, Texas Lutheran outshot the Cru 5-4, but neither team was able to put a shot in the net. Tyler Pate led UMHB with three shots, while Chris Torres and John Williams added two apiece. The UMHB defense allowed just three shots on goal in the match. Goalkeeper Brandon Stegmeyer played the entire game, recording four saves for the Cru.
 
The Cru will return to action with a road game at Schreiner on Monday at 4 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, but was postponed due to rain. UMHB returns home on Thursday, Sept. 20 to face East Texas Baptist at 7:30 p.m.
