Women's soccer falls 1-0 to Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team could not find enough offense to overcome a first-half deficit as the Cru dropped a 1-0 decision to Texas Lutheran Sunday afternoon in Seguin. The loss drops UMHB to a 3-2 overall record and opens them at 0-1 in American Southwest Conference action. The Bulldogs improve to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
 
Texas Lutheran took a 1-0 lead at the 33:21 mark when Sioned Kirkpatrick scored off a pass from Sunny Valencia-Balanta. UMHB outshot Texas Lutheran 29-9 in the match and put 15 of its shots on goal. Eliza Faillace led the Cru with 10 shots, while Maizey Cardy recorded eight and Ashley Teague added three. Goalkeeper Sarah Kathryn Robinson recorded six saves in the match.
 
The Cru will return to action with a road game at Schreiner on Monday at 2 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, but was postponed due to rain. UMHB returns home on Thursday, Sept. 20 to face East Texas Baptist at 5:30 p.m.
