BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer teams put two goals up on East Texas Baptist Thursday night, winning their second consecutive conference match 2-0. The Cru advances to 4-1-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action. The Tigers fall to 3-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference action.
Derek Geels put UMHB on the board first off an assist from
Tyler Pate at the 20:22 mark. The game stayed at 1-0 until the 81:28 mark, when
John Williams scored off an assist from
Isaiah Minick and
Nathaniel Fagnant.
The UMHB defense allowed just seven shots in the match and only three of those on goal. Seven athletes recorded 14 shots for the Cru, with
Derek Geels leading all players with four.
Brandon Stegmeyer earned the shutout, recording three saves for the UMHB.
The Cru be on the road next weekend with a game at Texas-Tyler on Friday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. and LeTourneau on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. UMHB will return home Oct. 5 for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Concordia.
