Basketball teams open six-game road swing Thursday night in Seguin

Seguin, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's and women's basketball teams will spend the rest of the month of January on the road with both teams facing a stretch of six consecutive American Southwest Conference West Division road games. The road stretch opens Thursday, January 17th, with a doubleheader at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin and continues with a doubleheader at Schreiner University in Kerrville on Saturday, January 19th. The Cru men and women will also play road doubleheaders at Sul Ross State University, Howard Payne University, Concordia Texas and Hardin-Simmons University before finally returning home to close out the regular season with four straight home contests.

The UMHB men are currently 12-3 overall and hold down first-place in the ASC West Division with an 8-1 league mark. The Cru is led by four double-digit scorers in Thomas Orr, James Allen, Kitrick Bell and Brian Todd. Orr and Allen average 13.7 points per game apiece and Bell leads the team in rebounding at 10.5 boards per contest. UMHB is just 4-3 on the road this season, but takes a three-game winning streak into this week's action. Texas Lutheran is 5-11 overall and 3-7 in ASC play on the year. Schreiner University, under the direction of former UMHB player and assistant coach Jimmy Smith, has an 8-8 overall record and a 5-5 mark in ASC play entering the week.

The Cru women are 2-12 overall and 1-8 in ASC play entering this week's action. Taylor Tucker is leading the UMHB women with 16.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game and she has posted seven double-doubles on the season. UMHB will have a chance to move up in the ASC West Division with a strong showing this week. Texas Lutheran is 5-11 overall and 3-7 in the ASC on the year and Schreiner has a 6-10 overall record and a 2-8 mark in league play, so the Cru is facing the two teams directly ahead of UMHB in the West Division standings.

Thursday's games will tip off at 5:30 and 7:30 PM and Texas Lutheran University will provide free live video streaming and live statistics for both games. Saturday's game times at Schreiner University are 1:00 and 3:00 PM. UMHB will offer live audio streaming of Saturday's doubleheader with Aaron Rodeffer and Chad Widmer calling the action.
