Salem, VA – Four University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football players helped lead the Crusaders squad to a 37-0 victory at the inaugural Dream Bowl Game Monday afternoon in Salem, Virginia. Cru quarterback
LiDarral Bailey also earned Offensive MVP honors for his performance in the game.
Bailey, a senior from Bremond High School, ran for one touchdown and threw for another to claim Offensive MVP honors. Offensive guard Michael Coles (Sr., San Antonio) and offensive tackle
Sam Maxie (Sr., Austin) both helped clear the way for Bailey and the offense's big day. Linebacker
Javicz Jones (Sr., Katy) was one of the leaders for a defense that shut out the Patriots squad and forced three turnovers in the victory. The four Cru players joined 15 other former American Southwest Conference football players on the victorious Crusader squad and had the opportunity to work out and compete in front of professional scouts over the weekend.
The Dream Bowl was played at Salem Stadium, the home of the NCAA Division III National Championship Game, in Salem, Virginia. The College Football All-Star Game was a showcase of the best NCAA D-III and NAIA players from across the country. The game and the series of events held over Martin Luther King Weekend were a celebration of the excellence, commitment, and sacrifice made by the players and their families.
