Men's soccer grabs 2-1 decision over LeTourneau

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team grabbed a 2-1 win over LeTourneau Saturday night in Belton. The Cru improves to 4-9-2 on the season and 2-5-2 in American Southwest Conference action while LeTourneau falls to 5-12-1 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

McKenna Cook got the Cru on the board first with a goal in the 16th minute assisted by John Williams. Kabutey Ebeheakey responded with his head in the 19th minute for a 2-0 UMHB lead. Patrick Tchekane responded for the Yellowjackets to close the gap to 2-1 heading into halftime. That score remained until just over 9 minutes left in the game when the contest was called due to lightning.

UMHB totaled 13 shots, led by Cook, the Schlotzsky's Lotz Better Player of the Game, Jonathan Hernandez and Scott Poole each with two. The Cru held LeTourneau to just five shots in the match, with goalkeeper Blake Lander allowing just one goal and recording one save. UMHB took seven corner kicks in the match.

The Cru also honored four seniors from the 2013 team, Jeremy Bowler, Brandon Dutton, Ebeheakey, Scott Poole, Joel Salinas, Tyler Wicks. The Cru returns to action Thursday afternoon with a 7 p.m. match at Concordia University.
