Round Rock, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 2-1 win over Concordia Thursday evening in Round Rock. The win improved the Cru to 13-3 on the season while the Tornados fell to 6-6-3. UMHB ended conference play at 7-3 while Concordia earned a 4-4-1 mark. The Cru's 13 wins broke a school record for wins in a season, beating the 2009 team's 12 victories.
Sarah Kirkland gave Concordia an early 1-0 advantage with a goal in the 18th minute of play. The Tornados held that lead until the 83rd minute when
Kristen Hoelscher found the back of the net off an assist from
Charis Brantley.
Kathryn Parker scored the game-winning goal just two minutes later to give UMHB the 2-1 victory.
Parker led the Cru with five shots while Hoelscher added three. UMHB outshot the Tornados 14-5 in the match. Brantley and
Miranda Aleman both recorded assists in the match.
Courtney Craig earned the win in the net for UMHB, allowing one goal and recording two saves.
The Cru will return to action next weekend in the American Southwest Conference tournament, Nov. 7 -10
th. UMHB ends the regular season with season-records in wins (13) and shutouts (nine).
