Women's Soccer falls to Texas-Dallas in ASC Semifinals

Richardson, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fell to the University of Texas at Dallas 1-0 on Friday afternoon in Richardson. The Cru ends their season at 14-4 while the Comets advance to the championship match of the American Southwest Conference Tournament at 10-8-1.

Carli Beckett gave the Comets the 1-0 win off a header in the 85th minute. The Comets outshot the Cru 17-3 in match with Kathryn Parker leading UMHB with two shots. The Cru put two shots on goal compared to the Comets' four. Both teams took three corner kicks in the match. Courtney Craig took the loss in the goal for the Cru, recording three saves. Parker and Alison Bullock were both named to the ASC Championship Tournament All-Tournament Team.

UMHB broke school records for wins (14) and shutouts (10) this season and advanced to the ASC Championship Tournament for just the fifth time in program history, earning the second postseason win for the school. Parker led the Cru offensively in points (31), goals (13), assists (five), game-winning goals (seven) and shots (74). Ashley Teague ranked second on the team in goals (ten) and points (21) while Kristen Hoelscher, Allison Porter and Maizey Cardy each recorded four assists. Craig and Abbigail Minnix split time in the net for the Cru. Craig recorded 44 saves en route to nine wins while Minnix had 15 saves and five wins.

The championship match of the ASC Tournament will feature the No. 2 seed Comets versus No. 1 seed Hardin-Simmons Sunday, Nov. 10th at 1 p.m. The winner of that match will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
