Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's and women's basketball teams will close out the 2012-13 regular season with a pair of home doubleheaders this weekend. The Cru men and women have both qualified for the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament and will have the two final home games to tune up for the postseason.
The Cru men and women will open the week against Howard Payne University with a doubleheader on Thursday. The women's game will tip off at 5:30 PM with the men to follow at 7:30 PM. The UMHB athletic department will also unveil its new logo at a 3:30 PM ceremony prior to the games. Everyone attending Thursday's doubleheader will receive a free t-shirt featuring the new logo. The UMHB men and women will then close out the weekend with a Saturday afternoon doubleheader against Sul Ross State. The women will start at 1:00 PM with the men to follow at 3:00 PM. The teams will recognize the 2012-13 seniors during the Sul Ross State doubleheader.
The Cru women have won five of their last seven games to clinch the fourth seed from the ASC West Division in the ASC Championship Tournament. UMHB will bring a 7-15 overall record and a 6-11 conference mark into this week's action. Howard Payne is 20-3 overall and 15-2 in the ASC and the Lady Jackets have clinched the #1 seed from the ASC West along with hosting rights for next week's ASC Championship Tournament. Sul Ross State enters the week with a 1-22 overall record and an 0-17 mark in league play.
The UMHB men are 20-3 overall and 16-1 in the ASC and the Cru has already clinched the ASC West Division title and a #1 seed in the ASC Tournament. UMHB has also won 11 straight games and 19 of its last 20 overall. The Howard Payne men are 7-16 overall and 5-12 in the ASC on the season. Sul Ross State will bring a 5-18 overall record and a 4-13 league mark into this week's action.
