Men's Soccer drops 3-2 decision to Millsaps College

Tyler, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Millsaps College Saturday night on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler. UMHB falls to 1-1 on the season while Millsaps opens at 1-0.

Millsaps grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute with a goal by Anthony Lazarra and assist from Chucky Hayden. Preston Hancock responded for the Cru in the 27th minute off an assist from Tyler Wicks before Oliver Ortiz gave UMHB a 2-1 lead heading into halftime with an unassisted goal in the 45th minute. The Majors responded with two second-half goals to grab the 3-2 win.

UMHB outshot the Majors 14-10 in the match with Hancock and Jonathan Hernandez both recording three. Blake Lander took the loss in the goal for the Cru, allowing three goals with no saves. UMHB took three corner kicks in the match.

The Cru will return to action next weekend in Tyler with a pair of 7 p.m. matches. UMHB will face Austin College on Saturday, Sept. 7th and Whitworth College Sunday, Sept. 8th. The Cru returns home on Friday, Sept. 13th with a 7 p.m. match against Southwestern Christian.
