Georgetown, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team used a late offensive surge to earn a 2-1 overtime win at Southwestern University Tuesday evening in Georgetown. The Cru advances to 3-0 on the season while the Pirates fall to 1-3.
The game remained scoreless until the 66th minute minute when Sarah Bevins gave Southwestern a 1-0 lead. The Pirates held that lead until the 76:28 mark when
Kristen Hoelscher found the back of the net and sent the game to overtime. Hoelscher, the Schlotzsky's Lotz Better Player of the game, then assisted
Kathryn Parker in the 91st minute to give the Cru a 2-1 victory on the first shot of the overtime period.
Parker led the Cru with five shots while Hoelscher and
Allison Porter each added three. UMHB outshot the Pirates 15-10, putting ten shots on goal.
Courtney Craig earned the win in the net for the Cru, allowing one goal and recording two saves.
UMHB will return to action Saturday in a 7 p.m. home opener against Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
