Men's soccer drops overtime decision to Mississippi College

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team dropped an overtime decision to Mississippi College 2-1 Friday in Belton. The Choctaws improve to 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in conference play while the Cru falls to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in ASC action.

The game remained scoreless until the 75th minute when John Williams put a left footer into the bottom right corner of the Choctaws' goal for a 1-0 UMHB advantage. Oscar Delgado responded for the Choctaws, putting his shot into the back of the net in the 86th minute of play. The game remained tied through duration, sending the teams into overtime when BJ Williams scored in the first 11 seconds of the overtime period to give the Choctaws a 2-1 victory.

Scott Poole led the Cru with four shots while Williams and Jonathan Hernandez added two. UMHB outshot the Choctaws 12-11 and took six corner kicks in the match. Blake Lander took the loss for the Cru, recording five saves and allowing two goals.

The Cru will return to action tomorrow with a 4 p.m. match against Louisiana College in Belton.
