Belton, TX –The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team opened play today at the U.T.-Tyler Annual Invitational with three-set sweeps of Rhodes College and Centenary College, improving to a 5-1 record on the season.
The Cru grabbed an early lead on Rhodes College and maintained that throughout the match with a 25-12, 25-17, 25-17 victory.
Lauren Powell led the Cru with 13 kills while
Cheyenne Dowdey added six.
Shelby Prather recorded 29 assists in the match and
Kendra Feldmann had 26 digs.
UMHB closed the day with a 25-9, 25-12, 25-11 victory over Centenary College. Powell again led the Cru with 12 kills.
Bianca Patterson added nine while Dowdey and
Kendall Pye each hit five. Prather repeated her 29-assist performance. Feldmann, the Schlotzsky's Lotz Better Player of the Game, recorded 23 digs.
Action will resume tomorrow at 10 a.m. with a match against Belhaven University and again at 2 p.m. against Jarvis Christian College.
