Belton, TX –The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team defeated Austin College 1-0 Saturday night on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler. UMHB improves to 2-1 on the season while Austin College falls to 0-2.
The match stayed scoreless until the 88th minute when
McKenna Cook gave UMHB a 1-0 lead and the win. Cook, the Schlotzsky's Lotz Better Player of the Game, led the Cru with four shots while
Isaiah Minick and
Tyler Wicks each recorded two.
Jonathan Hernandez had the lone assist in the match. Austin College outshot the Cru 15-10.
Blake Lander earned the win in the goal for UMHB with three saves and no goals allowed.
UMHB will return to action tomorrow against Whitworth at 10 a.m. in Tyler. UMHB returns home Friday, Sept. 13th for a 7 p.m. match against Southwestern Christian University.
