Volleyball finishes U.T.-Tyler Invitational undefeated

Belton, TX –The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team finished play today at the U.T.-Tyler Annual Invitational with three-set sweeps of Belhaven University and Jarvis Christian College, improving to a 7-1 record on the season.

The Cru began the day with a hard-fought 28-26 first-set victory over Belhaven University, before commanding the next two sets 25-9, 25-13 for a 3-0 match win. Kendall Pye led the Cru with seven kills while Lauren Powell, Sarah Toler and Bianca Patterson each added six. UMHB recorded 15 team blocks, led by Cheyenne Dowdey with one solo block and seven block assists. Kendra Feldmann recorded 16 digs while Abby Voskuil added 12. Shelby Prather assisted on 17 kills.

UMHB closed out the tournament with a 25-10, 25-15, 25-13 victory over Jarvis Christian College. Patterson led the Cru with nine kills while Toler added six and Powell put down five. Prather recorded 27 assists. Defensively, Dowdey led the Cru with five blocks while Feldmann had 12 digs.

UMHB will return to action with a two-day tournament Sept. 13th - Sept. 14th in San Antonio. The Cru will open play on Friday, Sept. 13th against Whitworth at 1 p.m.
