Men's soccer falls 1-0 to Whitworth

Belton, TX –The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Whitworth University Sunday morning on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler. UMHB evens to 2-2 on the season while the Pirates improve to 1-0-1.

The match remained scoreless until the 68th minute when David Starkovich found the back of the net and gave Whitworth a 1-0 advantage and eventually the win. McKenna Cook, the Schlotzsky's Lotz Better Player of the Game, led the Cru with three shots while five other Crusaders recorded one each. Blake Lander took the loss for UMHB, facing 10 shots with three saves and one goal allowed. The Pirates outshot the Cru in the second half 6-4. Both teams took five corner kicks in the match.

UMHB returns home next weekend with a 7 p.m. match against Southwestern Christian University Friday, Sept. 13th and a 5 pm. match against the University of Texas of the Permian Basin Saturday, Sept. 14th.
