Men’s Soccer drops 2-0 contest to Hardin-Simmons

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Hardin-Simmons Friday night in Belton. The win improved the Cowboys to 3-1-2 on the season and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play while the Cru fell to 4-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference action.

 

Neither team was able to score until the 70th minute when Matt Pitcock found the back of the net for the Cowboys off a throw-in from Tanner Coffin. Hardin-Simmons added an insurance goal in the 84th minute when Cole Johnson headed the ball into the goal off an assist from Pitcock, giving the Cowboys the 2-0 win.
 

UMHB took seven shots in the contest, led by Ben Hammonds with three and Logan Keeler with two. UMHB took two cornerkicks to the Cowboys' three and limited Hardin-Simmons to eight shots in the contest. Javier Zaragoza took the loss for UMHB, allowing two goals and making six saves.

 

UMHB returns to action tomorrow in a 7 p.m. match against Howard Payne at the Cru Sports Plex in Belton.
