BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team played a double overtime match to a 1-1 tie with Concordia Texas Saturday night in Belton. The tie moved the Cru to 5-5-2 on the season and 2-1-2 in American Southwest Conference play while the Tornados moved to 5-6-2 overall and 0-3-2 in conference play.
Concordia Texas was the first to score when Marshall Tucker assisted a goal by Matthew Butler in the 46th minute. UMHB responded quickly when Case Carnes found the back of the net off an assist from John Williams, evening the game at 1-1 in the 51st minute. Neither team was able to score during regulation or either overtime period, ending the game with a 1-1 tie.
Nathaniel Fagnant led the Cru with four shots while Caleb Latson and Ben Hammonds each added three. UMHB totaled 16 shots in the contest and limited to Concordia Texas to just nine. Javier Zaragoza played all 110 minutes in the goal for the Cru, making three saves and allowing one goal. Kyle Duncan played all 110 minutes for the Tornados, making three saves and allowing one goal.
UMHB returns to action Friday, October 24th in a 6 p.m. match at LeTourneau University.
